Kevin Phillips has been named ambassador for Sunderland football club's official charity, Foundation of Light.

Phillips, who previously played for the club and was its leading goalscorer, said he 'cannot wait' to work with the charity to continue its work throughout the city, and commented 'Sunderland will always hold a special place in my heart because I have really fond memories of the city and the club. I look forward to helping take the foundation forward and to promoting the fantastic work it does in the north east'.
